Drone Simulator

In collaboration with Three Trees Technical, we've developed a drone simulator prototype meant to assist in training search and rescue personel in learning drone piloting skills. In just 12 weeks, we've developed a configurable piece of simulation software capable of replicating many conditions faced when flying a drone, such as wind, rain, fog, and varying air pressure. Featuring a realistic environment created from heightmap data from BC, accurate simulation of rotor physics, and auto stabilizaiton, this simulator was made to be as true to life as possible.

Meet Team 312

Team 312 is a group of four Computer Science students with complementary skill sets and a shared passion for building intuitive, reliable software. Throughout this project we collaborated using Agile workflow, version control, and regular sprint planning while working directly with an industry sponsor.

Brody Volpe

Brody is a Computer Science student with a strong interest in front-end development and user experience design. He brings technical proficiency in C#, HTML, and CSS, along with a growing skillset in UI/UX design principles. Brody is recognized for his strong communication skills, leadership, adaptability, and critical thinking—qualities that support both independent work and team collaboration. Within the team, he focuses on interface design, front-end development, and ensuring a cohesive user experience across the project.

Liam Harrop

Wünderkind

Born in Victoria BC, Liam Harrop is a dedicated programmer with a passion for learning. Though he did not have any prior experience in Unreal Engine, he has been able to leverage his strong fundamentals in C++ and object oriented programming to quickly get up to speed. In addition, Liam has leveraged his experience gained from a Co-op position at CGI, where he worked with a team on the launch of a new website for the BC Government, to provide valuable real-world experience in an agile work environment.

Colin Smith

10X Developer

Colin is a dedicated software developer from Victoria, BC. As a student at Camosun College, Colin learned fundamental skills in software development and architecture which he has utilized to drive progress on this project and bring value to his sponsor. With proficiency in C++ programming and prior game programming experience, Colin is well suited to simulator and game development alike.

Christian Griffin

Christian is currently pursuing an Information and Computer Systems Technologist Diploma and has developed strong proficiency across multiple programming languages, including C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, and Swift. He also has experience in both SQL and NoSQL database administration, as well as implementing security best practices for software development. He is ecstatic to develop drone software.
